Born on 11th January, 1962 to parents Judge and Doreen Lawrence of the Point Area, St Johns, Antigua, West Indies.
As a child he enjoyed listening to all types of music but Calypso was his favourite.The head teacher of Villa School, Ms. Rosetta Etinoff encouraged him to sing on the School Chior. His love for singing grew so much, that he started singing Calypso in1975.He entered the Junior Calypso Competition at the age of thirteen, he never placed but that did not diminish his dreams for singing. Because of his love for music he continued to sing and develop his talents.In the state-hood Calypso Competition of 1980, he placed 3rd runners up and in 1984 placed2nd runners up in the Independence Calypso Competition.1985 marked the first year he became a finalist in the Senior Calypso Competition and a sixth time competition finalist.
