Terminated Hotel workers demand severance pay

The 14 employees of the St James Club who were terminated on Tuesday are requesting that their severance and other outstanding monies be paid without delay.

After a meeting with the Antigua Workers Union and the management of the St James Club on Tuesday the workers received their termination letters.

In the letter which took effect on April 19th, it was indicated that their termination was due to a breached of the procedures outlined in a Collective Bargaining Agreement to settle disputes.

The workers who were attached to the Food and Beverage department took action on Friday due a number of issues including ill-treatment by the department’s manager and having their working hours reduced without any discussion.
