Attorneys at Law express contrasting view on Public Servant rights

Attorneys at Law have given contrasting views regarding disciplinary action to be leveled against the Director of Youth Affairs Cleon Athill after she appeared on a media program without permission.

ZDK news understands that Athill not only appeared on Observer radio during working hours but she also made comments which according to a letter signed by the Permanent Secretary within the Ministry of Trade paint a negative picture of the role of Ministers and the Public Service.

However according to Attorney at Law Leon ‘Shakku’ Symister Athill was at the time exercising her constitutional right.

Also giving his view on the matter was Legal Counsel Dwyer Astaphan.

Astaphan said that Public Servants have a responsibility to practice a particular code of conduct given their positions in government organizations.
