CCJ targets Barbuda

The sister Isle of Barbuda is the next target on the agenda for the nationwide Public Education campaign on the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) and the Privy Council.

Chairman of the National Coordinating Committee (NCC) Everton Barnes while speaking on ZDK’s Expressions on Monday reassured Barbudans that plans are in place to spread the knowledge to residents there.

Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) Judge, the Hon. Justice David Hayton spoke on how important it is for Antigua and Barbuda to move from the Privy Council to the CCJ.

He said that similar to Dominica the twin island state should make the bold move and delink from the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council (JCPC).

Justice Hayton arrived in Antigua on May 22nd for five days of engagements that includes a number of focus group consultations and media appearances.

The consultations continue today and tomorrow with several groups including separate meetings with members of the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda and the Antigua and Barbuda Defense Force.
