Former Chairman of the UPP calls for a friendlier police force

Attorney at Law and former Chairman of the Opposition United Progressive Party Leo Shakku Symister has called on law enforcement officials to take a friendlier approach when dealing with the public.

Symister made the call while speaking during a programme on ZDK radio on Sunday. He said that the country needs a more people friendly police force.

The Former Chairman indicated that on many occasions the police have acted aggressively towards individuals and in order for the negative perception that have been created of the police to change, Lawmen have to first change their approach.

Symister also tackled the issue of Political Policing which he said has been occurring among a small number of law officials within the country. He said that an independent Police Force is what our society needs and should be encouraged.
