Political leader of the United Progressive Party Senator Harold Lovell says that the current state of the country’s economy is at an unacceptable rate.
His comment follows the recent release of the unemployment statistics which points to a 14.1 percent in Antigua and Barbuda.
Lovell who was speaking during an interview this morning said that from the UPP left office in 2014 the economy has been in a state of decline and stagnation.
Lovell said the decline in the economy has been and is continuing to severely impact residents and in particular the youth. He said that the low unemployment rate within the country is of grave concern.
Meantime in response to Lovell comments the Government Chief of Staff Lionel Hurst said that the country’s economy is in a state of rebound following a collapse in the economy under the UPP’s tenure.
Hurst said that the feeling of wellbeing that the Antigua and Barbuda people expected from a new government is in fact taking route.
