Bail has been set at $12,000 for the Bethesda man who was arrested and charged for drug-related offences.
43yrs old Ivan Thomas appeared before Magistrate Ngaio Emmanuel on Monday where he pleaded not guilty to charges of Possession of cannabis and cannabis plants, Cultivation of the Cannabis plants and Possession of Cannabis with intent to supply and transfer.
Thomas’ bail was initially denied but was later granted after justification from his Attorney Michael Archibald.
He had to pay a cash component of $5,000 and must report to the All Saints Police Station every Monday, Wednesday & Saturday until his next court hearing.
Thomas was arrested following a drugs eradication exercise on Wednesday where officers attached to the All Saints, Liberta and Dockyard Police Stations found a cannabis field with 3,820 plants growing with a portion of the cured plant also being discovered in the field.
Thomas, who was found in the field at the time of the eradication exercise was arrested and taken into custody.
The estimated cost of the controlled substance is $10,000.
