Immigration Minister the Hon Charles Fernandez has cleared the air on an alleged dispute between himself and the Chief Immigration Officer Annette Mark.
Minster Fernandez who was at the time speaking during a Cabinet briefing on Thursday dismissed claims of the matter being a dispute stating that both him and Ms. Mark were therefore seeking to achieve the same ends, and they both are on the same page.
He indicated that he, like the Chief Immigration Officer, agreed that it is the Government’s policy not to hire anyone for any of the government’s security apparatuses, including the Immigration Department, if there is any evidence of unlawful activity in the person’s immediate past.
The Immigration Minister said the plan is to further develop and enhance its border security as a means of attracting international recognition.
Meantime Minister Fernandez says that efforts are being made for potential employees to undergo a Polygraph Test before they can be hired to work within a number of government divisions.
