Former Parliamentarian and Minister in the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party the late Eustace Cochrane was laid to rest this afternoon during an official ceremony.
The funeral service which was held at the St. John’s Pentecostal House of Restoration on Lauchland Benjamin Drive saw many in attendance who came to bid their final farewells to Mr. Cochrane.
Among those paying tribute was the Member of Parliament for the All Saints East and St. Luke constituency Joanne Massiah.
She reminisced on the early years knowing the Former Parliamentarian who made significant contributions to the country especially to the youth.
Eustace Cochrane was eulogised by his son Neil Cochrane who highlighted some of the many contributions made by Mr Cochrane and how important they were to his late father.
Mr. Cochrane served as a senator under the late Sir Vere Cornwall Bird, starting in 1976. He was elected as the representative for All Saints East and St. Luke in 1984 and served the constituency diligently for two terms, from 1984 to 1994 and was the only Labour party Candidate to have ever won the All Saints East and St. Luke’s constituency.
Cochrane died suddenly on August 2nd while driving his vehicle on the Queen Elizabeth Highway.
