Police made Breakthrough in Kidnapping Case

The Police have made a successful breakthrough into an ongoing Kidnapping investigation, which led to the arrest of an English Harbour man.

According to a release from Stratcom, 30yrs-old Lorenzo Bright, Aka “Rambo” was arrested and charged by the police on Wednesday with kidnapping. Bright was also charged with two counts of demanding money with menace, and Aggravated Robbery.

It is alleged that on the night of October 20th 2015, the accused armed himself with a gun, and went to the home of an English Harbour businessman. It is further alleged that the accused issued a number of threats, as well as to resort to aggravated violence, in the demand of money.

The man was forced at gunpoint to drive into St. Johns, where he withdrew an undisclosed sum of money, using the ATM. The matter was later reported to the police.

Between May and August of this year, the police received and acted upon certain critical information as well as to recover certain pieces of evidence, which led to the arrest and subsequent charge of the accused.

The matter came up for hearing before Magistrate Emmanuel in the All Saints Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, and he was remanded to the St. Johns Police Station until Monday.

The charges, if convicted carry a maximum sentence of 5 to 25 years imprisonment.
