Family mourns the loss of teen who drowned

The family of 13-year-old Iresha Martin continues to mourn her death after her lifeless body was fished out of a pond in the Jennings community over the weekend.

According to reports, the 13-year-old Jennings Secondary School (JSS) student was playing with a group of friends and family members on Saturday when she reportedly fell into a pond near the vicinity of Dunning’s Estate.

Attempts were made to get Martin out of the water, while others ran in search of help; however they were unable to save the 13 year old’s life.

Officials from the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were apparently called in by Tindale Joseph a farmer who happened to be in the area when the tragedy occurred.

The EMS then fished the girl’s body out of the water with the assistance of members of the Fire Department. Several attempts were made to resuscitate the teen but it was too late.
