The Development Control Authority issued Stop Order against YIDA

The Development Control Authority has issued a stop order for the YIDA development Project on Guina Island.

That is according to the Government’s Chief of Staff Lionel Hurst who indicated that Cabinet was informed that the stop order was issue as a result of a bulldozer operator destroying what he thought was a wall but was actually the remnants of an old mill on Guiana Island.

Telecommunication Minister Melford Nicholas while speaking during today’s Cabinet Briefing said that the YIDA Group has agreed to rebuild the structure at its own expense.

Minister Nicholas while noting that there was some negligence on the part of the developers indicated that going forward; no excavating work will be carried out on Guiana Island unless a representative from both the Development Control Authority (DCA) and the Environmental Division are present during the works.
