23 yr old Shawn Mitchell, the young man who was fighting for his life at the hospital, following a September 15th traffic accident has died.
ZDK News received confirmation of the news this morning by Traffic officials, which indicated that the deceased succumbed to his injuries shortly after 8 pm on Monday.
Mitchell, who resided in Villa, was rushed to the Mount St. John’s Medical Centre for surgery, after his vehicle slammed into a tree just outside the old navy base that Thursday morning.
He was reportedly rushing to catch the ferry heading to Jumby Bay when he lost control of his red Rav 4 Jeep license number A4521, on Sir George Walter Highway shortly before 8 am that day.
According to an eyewitness who spoke with ZDK News, the collision happened after the 23 yr old overtook a vehicle. He reportedly sustained a fractured left leg, internal bleeding and had a swollen brain.
The 23 year old remained in critical condition up to last evening. This brings the number of road fatalities to five for 2016.
