Officials within the Ministry of Agriculture are currently in the Cayman Islands representing Antigua and Barbuda at the year’s most premier agricultural event, “”
According to a release, the event, which is being held in association with the Alliance for Sustainable Development of Agriculture and the Rural Milieu, ranks among the most significant events on the regional calendar and serves as an important forum for the discussion of opportunities and issues facing the region’s agriculture sector.
Under the theme of “Investing in Food and Agriculture” focus will be on the importance of investment, for both primary agriculture and the region’s developing food industry.
“The week will be packed with meetings as stakeholders within the CARICOM plot the way forward via policy dialoguing and training sessions,” the release added.
Forming the Antigua and Barbuda delegation is Minister of Agriculture Lands Fisheries and Barbuda Affairs Arthur Nibbs, Permanent Secretary Mrs. Sharon Peters, Director of Agriculture Lands Fisheries and Barbuda Affairs Jedidiah Maxime, and Technical Consultant Julius Ross.
This is the 14th Annual Caribbean Week of Agriculture (CWA) and it is being held at the Westin Grand Cayman Hotel, Seven Mile Beach Grand Cayman, from the 24th to 28th October, 2016.
The CWA 2016, to be held in Grand Cayman, is jointly organised by the Cayman Islands Government, the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA), the Caribbean Agricultural Research and Development Institute (CARDI), the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA).
