As Antigua and Barbuda today kick off the launch for this year’s Independence celebrations, the Republic of Cuba has dispatched a cultural group to take part in celebrations marking Antigua and Barbuda’s 35th Anniversary of Independence.
Cuba’s Ambassador to Antigua and Barbuda, His Excellency Mr. Gustavo Veliz, in making the announcement said that the Cuban Jazz band Luz D’ Habana will participate in the independence celebrations commencing with a free concert at the Multi-Purpose Cultural Center on today Thursday October, immediately following the launch of the Independence activities.
He noted that the group’s visit to Antigua and Barbuda at this time was as a result of Minister Chet Greene discussions with Cuban cultural officials in Cuba recently, on ways to advance the relations between both countries and the participation in cultural exchanges.
“Cuba has been a long-time friend and developmental partner of Antigua and Barbuda and the participation of internationally acclaimed Jazz band Luz D’ Habana is a demonstration of the level our relationship has attained. The visit also of Deputy Director and Producer of Cuban Vision International Channel and the Director of Communications at the Cuban Union of Artists and Writers, for the hosting of workshops and training sessions also signals the high level of our relations at this time,” said Minister Greene.
The 2016 Independence Anniversary activities opens on Today with a ceremony at the Multi-Purpose Cultural Center at 6:00 pm featuring cultural presentations and messages from government officials, concluding with a concert by the Cuban Jazz band Luz D’ Habana.
