Government plans to contribute to Haiti’s recovery efforts

The Government of Antigua and Barbuda has joined several other countries in making a timely donation towards Haiti’s recovery efforts in light of the damage caused by Hurricane Matthew.

The nation’s leader the Hon Prime Minister Gaston Browne who made the announcement while speaking in Parliament earlier today said that $100,000 US dollars will go towards assisting Haiti with their rebuilding efforts.

PM Browne also indicated that have been instrumental in a decision made by the Government of Qatar to establish a catastrophe fund which will provide financial support to Caribbean countries in the event of a disaster.

In addition, the Prime Minister also revealed that the Government of Qatar has pledged to him that it will make an immediate donation of US$500,000 to Haiti.
