Mother of teenage burn victim Shaveesa Gasper has been charged with Attempted Murder.
On Tuesday the police arrested and charged 39yrs-old Nicola “Nikki” Pitter of New Winthropes.
She appeared in the All Saints Magistrate on Tuesday before Magistrate Emmanuel, and was remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison.
Pitter is accused of setting her teenage daughter on fire on the afternoon of January 1st 2016.
According to medical reports, the teen suffered up to 40 percent burns about her body.
After the alarming news surfaced, it prompted the Gaston Browne Administration to mobilize resources in order to airlift the Teen Xplosion winner to Paris, France to undergo extensive treatment.
After over 6 months of treatment and reconstructive surgery abroad, 16 year old Shaveesa Gasper returned to Antigua in July of this year.
