Telecommunications giant, Digicel has compensated customers for its island-wide network outage last Saturday.
Shortly after 8 am, customers were unable to access mobile and internet services on Digicel’s network and service was not returned until in the evening of that day.
In a press release on Monday, Digicel said affected prepaid customers received 100MB of data and voice plans added to their bonus data account while LTE home internet and post-paid customers were compensated with one day free service.
Janice Sutherland, CEO of Digicel Antigua and Barbuda apologized for the inconvenience caused to customers and added that the technical team acted immediately to ensure that services were restored to normal as soon as they possibly could.
The release further added that in addition to having the incident fully investigated, Digicel has also indicated that measures are currently being put in place to prevent the issue from recurring.
The compensations were applied to customers’ accounts on Saturday evening immediately following the outage.
