Two Receives 2nd & 3rd Degree Burns Following Halcyon Cove Fire

Two men have received 2nd and 3rd degree burns about their bodies after crashing into the Halcyon Cove by Rex Resort on Tuesday morning.

The men were rushed to the Mount St. John’s Medical Centre and are currently in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after receiving burns to the upper body and the other to his face.

The fire, which occurred shortly after 11 am, took place after a heavy duty truck which both men were traveling in slammed into a three story block at the hotel.

Reports are that they were assisting with collecting garbage and while traveling downhill, the brakes stopped working.

No other persons were injured during the crash however, it is being reported that four rooms on the property were damaged during the blaze.
