Two Remain in Critical Condition Following Christmas Shooting

Two men, who were shot during the Christmas holidays, remain in critical condition at the Mount St. John’s Medical Centre.

The shooting incidents brought the festive Christmas holidays for the two families to an abrupt end after becoming the target of separate shooting incidents in Old Road and Golden Grove, respectively.

According to Police reports, the first shooting incident occurred around 10:30 pm on Sunday where 37yrs-old Christopher Texter of the United Kingdom receiving a gunshot wound to his head during an attempted robbery at Old Road.

It is alleged that a man approximately 5ft 8 inches in height, slim built, wearing a black hoodie and mask, attempted to rob his family, when a struggle ensued. During the struggle he was shot in his head, and was rushed by the EMS to the hospital. He arrived on the island on December 10th and was due to leave on 29th   December.

A day later on Monday at around 3:45 am, 42yrs-old Alba Coates, aka “Bumba” of Golden, was shot twice while in bed.

Reports are that he and a female companion were asleep at home when they were awoken by the sound of several loud explosions. He was reportedly shot in his chest and groin area and had to be transported by the EMS to the hospital.

Lawmen say that investigations are currently ongoing into both matters.
