Advocate for senior citizens and retired nurse Cornelia Michael is to receive an official funeral service.
The Government made the decision to offer the official ceremony because of Michael’s contribution for over three decades in community work.
According to Cabinet notes, the decision was made during its last session on Wednesday where Cabinet authorized the Ministry of Social Transformation to commence the planning in collaboration with the family of the outstanding Antigua and Barbuda citizen.
Following Michael’s death at her home last week Tuesday, tributes began to pour in for the woman who is being described as an advocate for the elderly for many years.
Political Leader of the United Progressive Party Harold Lovell on behalf of the UPP conveyed sincere condolences to the family of Michael, stating she has left indelible imprints on the hearts and minds since she had worked tirelessly to improve the welfare of the individuals whom she had served.
According to Lovell, Cornelia Michael, a staunch advocate for the well-being of the elderly, worked vigorously to promote this cause through her community outreach programmes.
According to Michael’s family, she passed away at her home last week after a prolonged illness.
