Passenger Dies After Medical Emergency on LIAT Flight

Regional air-carrier LIAT has issued a press statement concerning a passenger who died shortly after a medical emergency while on-board a flight.
The name of the passenger has not been revealed but according to the media release, the male passed away on the evening of Wednesday 25th January in St. Maarten.
Reports are that the passenger, who had transited from an international carrier onto LIAT, boarded the aircraft accompanied by a medical professional. Prior to take-off, the passenger was reported to be in distress and the aircraft returned to the gate.
ZDK News understands that paramedics were immediately called to assist however, notwithstanding the efforts of the medical professionals, the passenger subsequently died.
The flight was delayed because of the incident for a little over an hour.
LIAT said it is grateful for the efforts of the medical professionals and the compassion and understanding of its passengers and crew during the unfortunate event.
