Ayana Dorsett has been crowned Miss Antigua and Barbuda 2017 after emerging at the top ahead of 7 other Delegates.
Rohanna Smith, was adjudged the 1st runner up, 2nd runner up went to Affiana Rodney, while Shaquan Yorke followed closely behind securing the 3rd runner up position.
The newly crowned Miss Antigua and Barbuda in an interview following the pageant, said she was overwhelmed when she heard the announcement.
” I feel very excited, all my hard work paid off. I came into this pageant thinking anything that should happen will but when they called my name, I felt really excited, I felt accomplished,” she said.
The newly crowned beauty says that she will now prepare herself for the next phase as she hopes to represent Antigua and Barbuda well at the Jaycees Caribbean Queen Show in July.
“Since 2009 Antigua and Barbuda has not been able to claim the Jaycees Pageant so my head is now focus on Jaycees and bringing it back to Antigua and Barbuda for the 60th celebration of Carnival,” she added.
Eight beauties, Rohanna Smith, Linyka Lee, Shaquan Yorke, Affianna Rodney, Tonya Williams, Ayana Dorsette, Daniele Fabian, Odeila Deazle competed for the chance to be crowned Miss Antigua and Barbuda 2017.
2nd runner up Affiana Rodney was deemed the people’s choice via text from Flow customers and was also adjudged Miss Congeniality and was the inner of the talent segment. Most Photogenic went to Linyka Lee. 1st runner up Rohanna Smith was the winner of the swimsuit and evening wear segments and was also voted the most disciplined delegate.
Daniele Fabian was voted as the delegate with the most style while most improved went to Barbuda’s Odeila Deazle. 3rd runner up Shaquan Yorke won the interview segment which was conducted the day before the competition.
Miss Antigua and Barbuda Ayana Dorsette, who copped the top spot was adjudged the most spirited, and was the winner of the opening, segment, along with the costume and platform segments. The 2017 Miss Antigua and Barbuda Pageant was held under the theme “Reclaiming Our Pride”.
