The Barbuda People’s Movement says it is demanding answers from the ruling Antigua and Barbuda labour party administration on a number of issues affecting workers.
The BPM demonstrated their dissatisfaction and concerns during a protest action in front of the Barbuda Council Office on Monday.
BPM Leader Trevor Walker during an interview said the protest was held to show the party’s disapproval with the lack of communication and late payment of salaries. He highlighted that paying salaries on time was one of the many campaign promises of the ABLP administration.
Walker further indicated that it has become a trend for the ABLP that only around the election period persons are paid on time. The BPM said that they are dissatisfied with this current practice.
However responding to Walkers comments was Public Relations Officer for the Barbuda Council Orlando Morris who stated that the BPM is well aware of that during this time of the year the government experience financial shortfalls.
